| Applications | Photooxidation. Cedrelone and its derivatives showed inhibitory response against the inhibited all the species tested bacteria and fungal strains. Cedrelone significantly inhibited growth of different larval instars when administered orally (in artificial diet), topically or via injection. Nutritional analyses revealed that both growth inhibition and reduced consumption are a consequence of post-ingestive malaise rather than a peripherally-mediated antifeedant effect. Cedrelone administered via injection to sixth instar P. saucia larvae also inhibited growth, delayed development, and resulted in considerable larval mortality. However, all larvae which survived treatment pupated successfully. The present study suggests that the toxicity of cedrelone does not likely involve the endocrine system. Cedrelone inhibits proliferation, adhesion, migration and invasion of breast tumor cells from the line MDA-MB-231. The effects of cell migration and invasion on MDA-MB-231 cell may be explained, at least in part, by the ability of cedrelone to inhibit MMP activity. We also demonstrate that cedrelone is able to induce apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells. |
